ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF POLARIZED LENSES

Polarized lenses reduce the glare from strong light reflected off from the surfaces while also boosting contrasting light. In bright light, polarized lenses let you see more clearly. It is possibly harmful when direct sunlight comes into contact with your eyes. When sunlight reflects off any surface, it intensifies because the light waves become focused as a result of the reflection. This bright light is termed Glare. Glare has the potential to harm your eye’s general health. Polarized lenses are a wonderful option for people who have trouble seeing outside during the day. Polarized lenses shield your eyes from harmful rays and protect them from damage. In strong light, polarized lenses can aid to increase eyesight clarity. Let’s study the advantages and disadvantages of polarized lenses:

ADVANTAGES OF POLARIZED LENSES

1.    Your visual comfort can be improved with polarized lenses which minimize the amount of glare and thus enable you to see things with clarity. Apart from vertical light patterns, you become no longer constrained to process horizontal light patterns, you can view the environment around you in true colors.
2.    Polarized lenses improve contrast and clarity of vision by filtering horizontal light waves. The upgraded color contrast helps to see things with more clarity. Using polarized lenses you can avoid fatigue-related problems such as headaches.
3.    Polarized lenses can highly minimize the impact of UVA and UVB which are very harmful to the eyes. They protect the eyes from the risks associated with these harmful radiations and boost your vision. They also have a special feature that absorbs HEV rays.
4.    The use of polarized glasses makes it easy to see beneath the water surface and in the activities such as boating, fishing, and waterskiing. It alters the light reflections from the water surface and obstacles.
5.    The tension that you feel in the eyes is reduced when you use polarized lenses by limiting the glare entering in eyes. Redness, fatigue, and irritation are the common adverse effects of eye strain. Polarized lenses successfully neutralize these issues enabling your eyes to feel restful and comfortable.
6.    People often think that there is no use for polarized lenses in shady areas. Apart from bright areas, shady places also contain UV and HEV exposure. Even in the shade, polarized lenses provide good color contrast.
7.    Polarized glasses are very useful throughout the winter months and provide countless benefits to skiers and snowboarders. As the fresh snow reflects back 80% of the UVA and UVB rays emitted by sunlight, polarized lenses will perfectly minimize the glare and uplift the clarity.
8.    In a variety of light circumstances, different colored lenses offer different purposes:
?    Yellow lenses- It powerfully works to eliminate blue light spectrum waves that cause fatigue, strain, and headaches.
?    Rose lenses- These lenses with polarization help sharpen your focus and lowers the risk of migraine.
?    Brown lenses- In strong light or on a foggy day, these lenses are effective and work very well.
?    Grey lenses- These lenses powerfully filter the wavelengths in the visual length spectrum
?    Green lenses- In strong glare, these lenses provide a higher level of filtration.

DISADVANTAGES OF POLARIZED LENSES

1.    Polarized lenses restrict the vision of heavy machine users and airline pilots changing the way they perceive the world. This option is not suitable for those who have to be in constant touch with the screens.
2.    Sometimes, it becomes challenging for people to differentiate between outdoor elements and distinguish white colors, especially for skiers.
3.    LCD screens are difficult to see via polarised lenses. The chemical agents added to polarized lenses provide a filtering process that minimizes the quantity of light entering your eyes from an LCD screen. You can only see LCD when you have a direct line of sight as the different angles can make the screen completely disappear.
4.    When you use polarized glasses you may notice a grid pattern on the windows of the automobiles. The pattern is the result of the arrangement of heating elements or flames caused during the tempering process.
5.    Polarized lenses dominantly work to filter horizontal light waves which can also be affected if the positing is wrong. If the color of an object is similar to the surrounding environment, it can cause to miss obstacles on the road.
6.    Not all polarised lenses offer UV protection. Therefore before buying you must look for-
        (i) Verification that lenses were tested and provide 99% to 100% blockage of UVA and UVB radiations.
(ii) It claims that when lenses are worn correctly, they provide UV400 protection.

7. In cheaper lenses, instead of applying a chemical process to the plastic lens, the film is applied over lenses to create polarization effect and face issues like peeling, flaking, and bubbling over time with the product. High levels of sunlight can also cause the fading of the chemical film too.

8. Polarized lenses cost slightly higher than standard products and can sometimes go out of affordability.

Galorebay offers high-grade polarized glasses at an effective price that are exceptionally long-lasting and require minimum maintenance.
