SHOULD I BE WEARING GLASSES ALL THE TIME?

People wear eyeglasses for various purposes. They wear eyeglasses if they need correction in their vision, protection from rays or dust, or even aesthetic purposes. There are a lot of types of glasses for people to opt from. There are corrective vision glasses, blue light reflection glasses, driving glasses, and more, depending on their purpose. In this blog, we will discuss whether one should wear glasses all the time? If not, when? And other similar issues.

Different lenses have different properties and provide different support to the user's eyes. We can decide what glasses can be worn at a stretch and should be avoided for long periods. People who have refractive errors in their vision are suggested to wear glasses regularly and even get eye tests regularly. Refractive errors in vision are the most common vision problem. It is difficult for the person to see anything, causing double vision, squinting, headache, strained eyes and a lot more. The different types of refractive errors are:

  • Myopia: Nearsightedness. In this condition, far away objects look blurry.
  • Hyperopia: Farsightedness. In this condition, nearby objects look blurry.
  • Astigmatism: Both far and near objects look blurry.
  • Presbyopia: This condition usually arises in middle-aged people, making it difficult for them to see things up close.

To resolve this issue of refractive errors, there are prescribed glasses to cater to your specific condition and provide relief. Similarly, there are different glasses for different requirements and for how long you should be wearing your glasses depends on that. We will be explaining the different glasses and for how long you should wear them.

UV Protective Glasses

UV protection glasses are made specially to deflect the harmful ultraviolet rays present in the Sun's beams. People are suggested to wear UV protective glasses outdoors and in bright environments, even while driving in bright conditions. It provides visual comfort and shields with the eyes from harmful rays.

Even though these glasses are made to protect your eyes from harmful rays, these are advised to be worn during daylight hours as the prime purpose is served not indoors while working on the screen.

Blue Light Filtering Glasses

Blue light filtering glasses block the harmful ultraviolet rays and the blue light emitted from screens of your laptops, TV, and similar devices. These glasses are the best to deal with refractive eros and protect your eyes simultaneously. These glasses can be worn anywhere in any condition and can be worn for as long as one prefers, depending on vision-related complications.

Transitions Glasses

Transition glasses are also known as photochromatic glasses. These glasses change their tint according to the brightness in the environment. For instance, transition glasses turn dark in bright environments and light in dark environments for better visibility and vision comfort.

These glasses also can be worn anytime and anywhere and for as long as the person prefers, depending on their eyesight condition and complications.

In conclusion, glasses can be worn as you prefer. Depending on the severity, if one has refractive errors, one can wear them when only required or throughout the day to avoid headaches and strained eyes. Moreover, UV glasses are advised to only be worn in daylight hours and outdoors, not while working on the laptop or watching tv, as it does not serve the main purpose. Whereas blue filtering glasses are suitable for indoor and outdoor use as they are designed and engineered to serve their purpose for any and every requirement.
